Snow, St. Anselm, and Phill Drobnick!

Road to the White House: Day 4
Thursday, February 6, 2020
Merrimack/Manchester/Bedford, NH

We started off the day with a tour of St. Anselm College! It was snowing, so naturally we were all really excited. My favorite thing about New Hampshire was all of the frozen-over lakes and ponds -- as a hockey fan, seeing these in person really made me happy!!!

The view from our hotel room

Making our way to the van in the frozen rain! My morning routine consisted of coffee.

Views on the drive

We were given an incredible tour of St. A's which included a brief history lesson of how this college has played a crucial role in elections for years. Whether it's their Politics & Eggs signing event, hosting debates and town halls, to their civic involvement in the community by students, you could tell walking in that you were in the midst of something special. The tour included seeing pictures and memorabilia that really left me starstruck.

The view from outside one of their classrooms! Very different from our waterfront view at USFSP...

President John F. Kennedy spoke from this podium!

My caption for these pictures: "President Obama, I'm scared, please come pick me up..." Cardboard cutouts of most of the presidential nominees from the past few years were hidden in a room in the back! Jazzy and I had to run back there to get a picture with Obama!

We then went back to the Manchester headquarters and field office where we made phone calls, sent out Hustles (a mass texting platform, where nearly 3,000 text messages were sent between three of us), and met one of Amy's biggest supporters: Team USA Curling Coach, Phill Drobnick! Such a cool, unexpected experience!
